Ashanti, Tyrese, John Legend, R&B talents celebrate Heavy D's legacy
Even though late Hip Hop veteran Heavy D was best known for his relatable rhymes, his music reached those in R&B/soul music as well. Celebrating the life, now legacy, of Heavy D singers including Ashanti, Tyrese, John Legend and Usher paid tribute to the "Now That We Found Love" talent Wednesday.
"Many Prayers & Blessings 2 Heavy D's Family. Such a Huge impact on Music, Always Positive & all around Lovable guy! #RapLegendRIP HEV," Ashanti wrote on her Twitter page, echoing the sentiment of many who recognize Heavy D's accomplishments.
"I was just on stage with him. Now he's gone," "Open Invitation' singer Tyrese wrote Wednesday. "His last tweet 16 hours reads.. "Be inspired" @HeavyD ? I can't believe I'm writing RI-HEAVEN!"

John Legend: "I'm so sad about Hev. He really was a wonderful person."

Heavy D died Tuesday, November 8. He was 44. He had been on tour earlier this fall, appearing at the BET Hip Hop Awards and Michael Jackson tribute in Cardiff.
